| Ken Brickley has been an effective problem solver and team leader in the semi-conductor industry for nearly 15 years. He has led cross functional and multi-regional teams to solutions of various problems, from new equipment/process development to new product introductions and yield. He has operated in many environments, including development, manufacturing, materials, and logistics. Most recently Ken led the Itanium®2 materials enabling teams to deliver the various support components to support the on-time launch of the new server products. He led several task forces, like the thermal interface material reliability task force, that were working to resolve various manufacturing or reliability opportunities. He also trained multiple suppliers in recommended methodologies that helped improve the supplier rankings and operated as the program technical liaison to multiple suppliers. Ken’s career at Intel Corp. began in 1988 when he was hired as a new college graduate. He was quickly stationed in Japan, working with a new handler supplier who was causing the company to go through about 2 weeks of set-up on new machines. After four months as liaison to the supplier and developing robust testing and set-up methodologies, the set-up time had been reduced to about 3 days. Upon returning, Ken joined the index time reduction team where he rewrote the handler’s assembly code to provide a 15% increase in handler speed. In 1991, Ken moved to the factory to support outgoing quality processes, like final visual and lead inspection. It was here that Ken used his problem solving skills to great success solving a burn-in bent lead problem that was causing 5% yield loss and increasing outgoing yields on large plastic packages by 3%. He was also the project manager for the pin grid inspection system that resulted in reducing headcount in outgoing inspection steps while still increasing outgoing package quality. Ken led several teams, like the pin grid copy exactly team that matched 25 machines in three factories. He was also the content expert for the outgoing quality change control team. After four years in the factory, Ken moved to logistics in 1996 to manage the off-shore SAP implementation team in Malaysia and the Philippines. While residing in Malaysia, as an ex-pat, he used his methodology skills to develop bug tracking packages that reduced the time to closure and freed up resources to keep the conversions on schedule. After 15 months in the international arena, Ken returned to the US to support development activities in Chandler. Here he implemented the board inspection system at factories in Ireland and the Philippines before moving into the materials group. In the materials group, Ken successfully led a team in Japan to address issues preventing the launch of the new mobile socket. He then moved on to deliver the new server sockets required for Itanium®2, managing suppliers in Taiwan, U.S., and Japan; before becoming the Itanium®2 Segment Manager and Materials Integrator. Ken has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico and extensive training in DOE’s, manufacturing and development systems, and problem solving. |
